Each spring SMS hosts an art and talent show that gives students, faculty, and staff an opportunity to submit artwork as well as try out for the talent show. This year's event included several artists and 11 student acts. Participants are pictured above.

Spring sports are in the final weeks of their season.

Eventlink is the best way to stay up to date with all schedules, practices, and games. It is also the platform that coaches use to send team messages, so it is important to get your account set up.

Scottsburg Middle School's annual academic awards night is scheduled for Wednesday, May 20th at 6:00 p.m. in the West Gym.

The following groups of students and their families will be invited to attend this event:

All 6th graders who earned gold level (4.0 - all grades are A+ or A)

All 7th graders who earned gold level (4.0 - all grades are A+ or A)

All 8th graders who earned bronze level (3.5-3.74)

All 8th graders who earned silver level (3.75-3.99)

All 8th graders who earned gold level (4.0)

The six 8th graders who earned gold level every year at SMS will be invited to share their thoughts about the keys to their academic success.

It looks like warm weather is here to stay, so now is a good time for a friendly reminder about some common violations of the SMS dress code:

Scottsburg MS students receive report cards six times throughout the school year. Our current grading period ends on Thursday, May 21st.

The grades on that report card will be published on Wednesday, May 27th.

The grades from our fifth six weeks will be averaged with course grades from the sixth six weeks to calculate trimester grades.

The grade point average of the trimester grades is what we use to determine medal awards at the end of each school year.

Reminders about bus passes:

--Both parents need to send in a note or call 

--Notes or calls should be in the SMS office before 12:00 noon

--If we don't hear from both parents, we can't send students home with someone else 

These guidelines apply to situations when a student is riding home on another student's bus as well as when students are riding their regular bus but getting off with someone at a different stop.

Scott County School District 2 opened the window for elementary school in-district transfer requests for the 2026–2027 school year on April 1, 2026. The request window will remain open until the last day of school, currently scheduled for May 21, 2026. Please note that requests submitted outside of this window will not be considered.
