SMS Grading Periods

Scottsburg MS students receive report cards six times throughout the school year. Our current grading period ends on Friday, April 10th.
The grades on that report card, which will be published on Wednesday, April 15th, determine students' eligibility for extracurricular activities for the remainder of the school year.

The grades from our fifth six weeks will be averaged with course grades from the sixth six weeks to calculate trimester grades.
The grade point average of the trimester grades is what we use to determine medal awards at the end of each school year.

Families are invited to attend the Pre-Enrollment Event at their child’s school of residence. Dates and times are listed in the graphic above.

athletics

SMS Athletics

Spring sports are all underway.

Eventlink is the best way to stay up to date with all schedules, practices, and games. It is also the platform that coaches use to send team messages, so it is important to get your account set up.

Students should listen to the afternoon announcements for more information about practices and competitions.

If you have questions about athletics, please contact Mrs. King at 812-752-8926 option 2.

bus passes

Bus Passes

Reminders about bus passes:
--Both parents need to send in a note or call
--Notes or calls should be in the SMS office before 12:00 noon
--If we don't hear from both parents, we can't send students home with someone else

These guidelines apply to situations when a student is riding home on another student's bus as well as when students are riding their regular bus but getting off with someone at a different stop.

Transfers

Scott County School District 2 opened the window for elementary school in-district transfer requests for the 2026–2027 school year on April 1, 2026. The request window will remain open until the last day of school, currently scheduled for May 21, 2026. Please note that requests submitted outside of this window will not be considered.
Families who wish to request a transfer within the district should carefully review the updated transfer guidelines at the following link: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Yn-0J9iOt80YlotJ5YCS-m0AeHy6LjTWZi-HDN2y_9A/edit?usp=sharing

If you know someone who lives outside of Scott County School District 2, but is interested in having their child attend a Scott 2 school, the out-of-district transfer request window also opened on April 1, 2026.
For a transfer request to be considered:
  • The transfer form must be fully completed during the transfer window
  • Proof of residency must be provided
  • The request must be submitted to the school building the student is requesting to attend
Additional details and the full guidelines can be found at the link above.
