Three SMS eighth graders recently excelled in two separate events.

Christian Vaughn competed in the state archery tournament and won 2nd place in 3-D as well as 3rd place in bullseye.

Caleb Cox and Gracie Hopkins travelled to Atlanta for the Global Amazing Shake. Gracie earned a spot in the top 50 out of 519 participants from around the world.

Congratulations to all three of you for representing your family, school, and community in such positive ways.

Do you have a future SCSD2 student who will be 4 or 5 years old by August 1, 2026? It’s time to get ready for an exciting milestone and begin the PreK and Kindergarten pre-enrollment process for the 2026–2027 school year.

Scott County School District 2 will open the window for elementary school in-district transfer requests for the 2026–2027 school year beginning April 1, 2026. The request window will remain open until the last day of school, currently scheduled for May 21, 2026. Please note that requests submitted outside of this window will not be considered.

Spring sports are all underway.

Eventlink is the best way to stay up to date with all schedules, practices, and games. It is also the platform that coaches use to send team messages, so it is important to get your account set up.

Students should listen to the afternoon announcements for more information about practices and competitions.

Scottsburg MS students receive report cards six times throughout the school year. Our current grading period ends on Friday, April 10th.

The grades on that report card, which will be published on Wednesday, April 15th, determine students' eligibility for extracurricular activities for the remainder of the school year.

The grades from our fifth six weeks will be averaged with course grades from the sixth six weeks to calculate trimester grades.

The grade point average of the trimester grades is what we use to determine medal awards at the end of each school year.

The Scott County Tree Board invites all Scottsburg MS families to participate in an Arbor Day event at Lake Iola on Friday April 24th from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. 

The board will plant a tree, give away some seedlings (while supplies last) and talk about tree-related topics like Arbor Day, the Tree Board, tree planting, and tree species selection. 

Rick Cozart, who also serves on the Tree Board, will grill hotdogs and have chips and water for any attendees who are interested.

Schools are now required to collect residency information twice each school year. At your earliest convenience please log into your Harmony Family Access account to complete that piece of the registration process.
