College Go! Week

September 22-26 is College Go! week in Indiana. Schools across Indiana will be helping students explore information and resources designed to help Hoosiers plan for education beyond high school. Although not everyone goes to a traditional 4-year college, everyone will need some type of post-secondary training. Career choice determines the level and type of training each student will pursue.

At SMS, we will honor College Go! by encouraging everyone to wear college apparel all week.
During homeroom time and study hall time, our teachers and staff will be talking to their students about their college experience.

Students - Please talk to your family members about their education experiences after high school. Share with your family what careers you are interested in and what type of training, college or otherwise, you are interested in pursuing.

Parents for more information please see:  Learn More Indiana magazine
grading periods

SMS Grading Periods

Scottsburg MS students receive report cards six times throughout the school year. Our first grading period ended last Friday, September 19th.
The grades on that report card, which will be created and published on Wednesday, September 24th, determine students' eligibility for extracurricular activities until the next report card is issued in mid-November.

The grades from our first six weeks will be averaged with course grades from the second six weeks to calculate trimester grades.
The grade point average of the trimester grades is what we use to determine medal awards at the end of each school year.
retakes

Picture Retakes

Our picture retake date is Thursday, September 25th. Students who were absent on picture day, students who have enrolled since the original picture day, and students who want their picture retaken are welcome to participate.
If you would like to order a picture package, please go to inter-state.com/order and enter the following code: 0088YKD
There are also paper order forms in the SMS office.
lost and found

Lost and Found

The lost and found between the east and west gyms is getting large, so please have your student check the lost and found.
Any items not claimed by fall break will be donated to the SMS clothing closet or the Scott Co. Clearinghouse.
If you are missing an item, please ask your student to check lost and found or call the school.

We have three weeks left in our fall sports season.
Cross country, 7/8 football, 7/8 football cheer, volleyball, soccer, and boys tennis are the SMS fall sports.

Students should listen to the afternoon announcements for more information about practices and competitions.

In order to participate in sports, students must have a physical on file and their parent/guardian must complete the FinalForms process.
Eventlink will still be the platform that we use to communicate with parents/family members regarding practices and events.

If you have questions about athletics, please contact Mrs. King at 812-752-8926 option 2.

free breakfast and lunch

Food Services

Scott 2 is fortunate to have the opportunity to offer free breakfast and lunch to all of our students this year.
Check out this link for breakfast and lunch menus.

Please remember that students must have money in their cafeteria account if they want a second tray, extras, or items from the snack line.

Like many schools, we occasionally experience some supply/distribution delays. We will follow the posted menus when possible, but will have to make adjustments at times.
